Why shouldn’t I just hire a full-time Chief Product Officer?

A full-time CPO’s salary (with benefits and bonuses) can cost companies somewhere in the mid-six figures. If they end up not being the right fit, a severance package will cost your company three times their yearly salary. On top of that, studies show that it typically takes a new CPO up to three months before they can start providing value. With my background and experience, I can onboard quickly and provide value within four weeks at a fraction of the cost. I’ll be engaged in the project for as long as I’m needed, and my services scale up or down depending on the project’s needs.

Do you offer smaller engagements to validate your services?

Typically, no. However, my smallest engagement package lasts a month. If you decide our partnership isn’t the right fit after a month, you’re not locked into a long-term contract. That being said, I do sometimes offer smaller engagements on a case-by-case basis.

Will you be on-location to attend major meetings?

I’ll attend the majority of my meetings via video calls. For clients located on the West Coast, I can attend some meetings in person if given proper notice. Travel expenses must be covered by my clients and approved by both parties.

Will you be considered a full-time employee of my company?

I act as a consultant, NOT a full-time employee. Most of my involvement will happen via scheduled weekly and monthly calls. However, there may be one-off scenarios that require additional engagement. These can typically be handled quickly with a phone call. Larger discussions taking more than an hour must be scheduled as a one-off at my hourly rate.

Are you available at all times during business hours?

I’m available Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. EST in our established digital communication channels. I will respond to all messages ASAP, usually within 24 hours max.

Will you handle design, content creation, and development?

As a consultant, I will guide the strategy around these elements of digital product creation. I don’t facilitate the actual implementation of design outside of planned workshops, but I’ll guide your team members and service providers in scheduled feedback sessions.

Will you join the company Teams/Slack channels?

Yes! Feel free to add me to your preferred digital communication channels.

Will you adopt a company email address for internal/external communication?

I’ll adopt a company email address for clients that sign quarterly and yearly contracts. I would need a company device sent to me if there are specific security restraints around communication, which I’ll return when the contract finishes.

What if I’m unhappy with your services?

While I make every effort to make sure my clients are satisfied throughout the project, sometimes even the best-laid plans can go awry. I always encourage over-communication to avoid any discouragement or disappointment. If I can understand the changes that need to be made, we can work together and stay agile.

How do you bill? Do you provide refunds?

I bill my monthly fee NET 7 and require payment before engagement. If I’m working with a client on a quarterly or yearly basis, I can bill this fee upfront or through monthly installments. However, payments need to be received via direct deposit or online payment at the beginning of each month to avoid a service pause.

Do you accept credit cards?

Typically, I’m compensated via check, ACH, or direct deposit. I’m open to credit card payments (including service fees) on a case-by-case basis.
